Once upon a time

French Language Lesson

A new life in a new country, for the third time. Really? How does all this reading work? So many exceptions… Maybe I should just stick to English (though I could improve that too)? Anya kept losing herself, finding herself, and losing herself again. Moves, flights, new old places - where to put down roots? Who am I even?

They had a housewarming party… Everyone came, and no one thought to take off their shoes. Really, how can you walk around the house in shoes? I’m not used to this. Anya wrote down all her habits in a notebook so she wouldn’t accidentally forget herself while adjusting to the still unfamiliar new environment. Maple syrup and eternal winter. I forgot to buy eggs… maybe I could ask the neighbor? Not done here. I’ll also note that in the second notebook…

In her past life, the children went to school without noticing the change of seasons. Always rubber boots—either rain or mud. And here, it’s always clean, even scary. Maybe I miss the trash, Anya thought with a smile… Although no, here’s the wind catching a shiny wrapper and bringing it into the classroom, to the adult French lesson…

Bonjour!

Ça va? J’espère que vous allez bien…
