Anna had already forgotten when she became a night owl. She only remembered that summer had been too bright and too hot, and so she switched to a "nighttime coffee mode." The kids were asleep, her husband was asleep, the city was asleep. She watched TV shows, thought about things, tried drawing, and attempted to write, but it all turned out to be a jumble. She fell asleep at 4. Sometimes, she admired the moon. Yes, days were slipping away. She forgot, postponed and delayed. "You can’t keep this up," her husband said. "Mom, you’re falling asleep on your feet," the kids said. They prescribed sleeping pills, advised walking before bed, and reading. She resisted. So, her husband had to take the whole family out for a walk and read aloud to Anna before bed. It improved. But sometimes, she missed her coffee and thoughts on moonlit nights... And who doesn't?
